Investment Philosophy

The cornerstone of Hyperion Brookfield's investment philosophy is the concept of relative value. Our approach begins with global macroeconomic analysis with the goal of determining the long-term trend in credit, interest rates, currency and the yield curve. Following this, we construct a detailed analysis and review of relative value among the fixed income sectors. The process then continues from the sector level to the issuer level where we analyze relative value among issuers, security structures and credit quality. We utilize quantitative tools and analyses, including option–adjusted spreads, historical yield spreads between sectors, and yield curve horizon analysis.

The development of new security types and structures, such as we have seen in CMBS and other mortgage-related asset-backed securities, offers investors a broad array of complex investment alternatives with which to manage risk and return. This dynamic marketplace demands both the expertise of experienced investment professionals and the capabilities afforded by state-of-the-art risk management and analytical systems.

Through a rigorous process that encompasses in-depth credit evaluation and quantitative analysis, our experienced professionals focus on capitalizing on the best investment opportunities for our clients. Our overall fixed income philosophy is consistent across all client portfolios.
